NeuroNEXT: Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials at Columbia-Weill Cornell

The Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials, NeuroNEXT, was created in 2011 to conduct early phase clinical trials through partnerships with academia, private foundations, and industry. The network consists of 13 clinical sites, a Clinical Coordinating Center, and a Data Coordinating Center, and offers many benefits. In our new cycle, the emphasis is on rare and ultra rare diseases.

Our mission:

  1. To continue to strengthen and integrate the network of investigators at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) drawing upon adult and pediatric expertise in neurology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation and regenerative medicine, precision medicine and informatics (IT) to efficiently conduct Phase 2 or biomarker validation studies across the lifespan.
  2. To develop tools and best practices for recruitment and retention of racially and ethnically diverse participants a) to improve the quality of the research experience and assurance of continuity of care, b) improve dissemination of educational material to participants, families, and disease advocates about scientific advances and the importance of clinical trials.
  3. To train junior faculty in the design and conduct of early phase trials, especially in ultra-rare and rare diseases.

NeuroNEXT Fellowship Program

The NeuroNEXT Fellowship program is an initiative to train junior faculty from either CUIMC or WCM, in the design and conduct of early phase trials, especially in ultra-rare and rare diseases. The goal of this program is to prepare the individual to work towards obtaining a K award or to obtain foundation or other independent research support by the end of their NeuroNEXT fellowship.
