Dr. Serge Przedborski Named to the Virginia Apgar Academy of Medical Educators

The Department of Neurology is proud to announce that Serge Przedborski, MD, PhD, Page and William Black Professor of Neurology (in Pathology and Cell Biology and Neuroscience) at Columbia University has been selected for membership in the Virginia Apgar Academy of Medical Educators, Class of 2025.

Dr. Przedborski serves as Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Neurology, Co-Director of the Motor Neuron Center, Director of the Columbia Translational Neuroscience Initiative (CTNI), and Chief of the Division of Movement Disorders. His leadership across these roles reflects a deep commitment to advancing both scientific discovery and educational excellence.

The Apgar Academy, an active community of over 130 faculty educators at VP&S, is dedicated to promoting, rewarding, and supporting outstanding education for medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Membership in the Academy recognizes not only excellence as an educator but also a strong commitment to contributing to the educational life of the medical community.

Dr. Przedborski joins a distinguished group of course directors, clerkship directors, residency program directors, and department leaders who set the standards for educational innovation and scholarship at VP&S. As a member, he will help shape the learning environment through mentorship, curriculum development, and collaboration with colleagues across disciplines.
