Columbia Translational Neuroscience Initiative (CTNI)
In 2013, the Columbia Translational Neuroscience Initiative was established as an umbrella organization to coordinate, facilitate, and represent the activities of Columbia’s Uptown neuroscience and disease-focused centers. Columbia Uptown has unparalleled critical mass in these areas–CTNI will enhance basic and translational neuroscience research, ensuring that resources and information be utilized as effectively as possible.
To unite Columbia’s community of Uptown neuroscientists and integrate it with the full range of resources of Columbia University to form a preeminent collaborative union that can readily translate scientific research into useful clinical applications.
- To develop new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for disorders of the nervous system.
- To construct a translational continuum on the uptown campus from basic neuroscience to human studies and back, founded on academic rigor, new collaborative structures, and dedicated funding.
- To be a leading actor in the emerging strategy of Columbia Neuroscience across the University.
