Vivien Xie Cherng, MD is a board-certified pediatric neurologist with additional subspecialty training in neuroimmunology. She sees both pediatric and young adult patients at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and is affiliated with the Columbia Multiple Sclerosis Center.
Dr. Xie Cherng earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and subsequently completed her child neurology residency at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. Following residency, she completed a subspecialty fellowship in Pediatric Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis at Children’s National Hospital and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
In addition to general child neurology, Dr. Xie Cherng specializes in the diagnosis and management of demyelinating disorders of the central nervous system, including multiple sclerosis, myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD), and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). Driven by a commitment to both patient-centered and evidence-based medicine, she provides highly collaborative, cutting-edge care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Additionally, she prioritizes transition-of-care initiatives to help young adults successfully navigate and manage their healthcare independently.
