Overview

Alexandra Laurenzano is a pediatric nurse practitioner in the Division of Child Neurology, at the Pediatric Neuromuscular Center. She provides support in guiding, shaping and overseeing the medical needs of pediatric neuromuscular patients. In collaboration with attending physicians, she manages and treats patients with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Muscular Dystrophy, as well as other neuromuscular conditions. She graduated from New York University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in nursing, followed by a Master’s degree in Pediatric Nursing. Her nursing career began at Hospital for Special Surgery, where she worked as a registered nurse at the Lerner Children’s Pavilion Inpatient Unit for almost 6 years. She transitioned into her current role at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in December of 2019, where she was able to further her passion of caring for children with complex medical needs. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in neuromuscular research, specifically in SMA and DMD.
