Overview

Karen Eck is a nurse practitioner with the Division of Child Neurology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She completed her undergraduate degree in nursing at Hartwick College which included two internships at Babies Hospital of New York.She began working as a registered nurse at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in internal medicine. She then worked as a registered nurse in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. While working, she completed her Master’s of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Columbia School of Nursing. She started working in the Adult Epilepsy Division but returned to her love of working with children in 2003 in the Child Epilepsy Center. She has a strong interest in dietary therapy for the treatment of epilepsy and is an integral part of the ketogenic diet team.
