Julie Tellez, LMSW
Overview
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with over 8 years of experience with older adults. Before joining the Taub Institute team in October 2024, I worked in a supportive housing building for over 4 years, with older adults who experienced former homelessness, along with chronic physical, mental and substance use health conditions. I collaborated with onsite services and offsite providers in the community to ensure that residents remained healthy, safe, and stably housed.
Prior to that, I was a social work intern at a non-profit law firm, in their immigration department. I worked closely with folks from marginalized communities, especially Black, Indigenous and People of People, and collaborated with their attorneys to support them during the immigration proceedings.
I also worked for 4 years serving homebound older adults in Queens through a case management program with NYC Aging (formerly the NYC Department for the Aging). I made home visits and assessed clients for needed services, benefits, and entitlements. I collaborated with caregivers and loved ones, health care providers and other service providers with the goal of upholding the clients’ quality of life and ensuring they remain safe in their homes and communities.
I am honored to work with the community, clients and loved ones, and I look forward to working together!
