Pediatric Neurologist Dr. Divya Jayaraman Selected as 2026–2027 NeuroNEXT Fellow

Divya Jayaraman, MD, PhD, assistant professor of neurology in the Division of Child Neurology and a pediatric neuromuscular specialist, has been selected as the NeuroNEXT Fellow for the 2026–2027 academic year. This competitive fellowship provides junior faculty from Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine with advanced training in the design and conduct of early-phase clinical trials, with a particular focus on rare and ultra-rare neurologic diseases. Previous fellowship recipients from the Department of Neurology include Drs. Jennifer Bain and Valentina Emmanuele. 

Dr. Jayaraman’s fellowship research will focus on Becker muscular dystrophy, a progressive neuromuscular disorder for which no approved therapies currently exist. Through the NeuroNEXT program, she will work to develop innovative clinical trial approaches for evaluating potential disease-modifying treatments, with the goal of expanding therapeutic options for patients with Becker muscular dystrophy.
