Adam Brickman, PhD, Professor of Neuropsychology, talks about a recent study that examined brain scans from the 2021 and 2022 pandemic years. The results showed that the pandemic negatively affected brain health and accelerated brain aging. Dr. Brickman said that the findings are compelling, but “still a hypothesis.” It remains to be determined if these adverse effects will be long-term for those who didn’t get Covid during the pandemic. Dr. Brickman also pointed out that healthy activities could counteract this. “We know that exercise is good for the brain and keeping blood pressure at a healthy level, for example.
