Dr. Churl-Su Kwon

Please join in welcoming Churl-Su Kwon, MD, MPH, FRSPH to our faculty as assistant professor of neurological sciences (in Neurology, Epidemiology, Neurological Surgery, and the Gertrude H. Sergievsky Center). Dr. Kwon obtained his MD from University College London and MPH from Harvard. He completed neurosurgery residency at King’s College London, followed by postdoctoral fellowships in epilepsy clinical research at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, neurosurgery/neurophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and health services research at Mount Sinai. Dr. Kwon specializes in epilepsy and functional neurosurgery. He has a wide variety of academic and research interests, which include: outcomes research in clinical neurosciences, epidemiological and health services research, clinical informatics, randomized neurosurgical trials, and neurophysiology. Dr. Kwon also studies abnormal brain function in patients with epilepsy and psychiatric comorbidities using intra-operative recordings, big data, and reversible treatment methods of neuromodulation with deep brain stimulation and responsive neurostimulation.
