Program Details
Capstone Project
- Create a community intervention under the guidance of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students at Columbia University
- Present your initiative at the Neurology Community Health Symposium
- Health education
- Participate in weekly education sessions covering disease, epidemiology, prevention, recognition, and treatment
- Take material beyond the classroom as a health liaison who supports and teaches program content to 5 people of your choice (family, neighbor, friends, etc.)
Community
- Network with other ACComPLISHED students and mentors
- Become a community health leader and advocate
- Gain supportive relationships, lasting mentorship, and opportunities that extend beyond ACComPLISHED
Program Dates
Academic Year Cohort: September 28, 2024 - April 26, 2025
All ACComPLISHED participants are expected to participate in the education sessions, complete asynchronous teaching of their health liaisons, and develop their capstone project with their mentors.
Program Specifics
Virtual Sessions
Students will join class sessions through Zoom. Didactics over Zoom will be recorded. Students are still expected to attend virtual sessions live (breakout groups and telemedicine standardized patient sessions will not be recorded).
Asynchronous Materials
Students will be invited to a Columbia Courseworks page that contains links to the virtual sessions, additional insight into the covered topics, and the program assignments.
In-person Sessions
Students will be provided food at the in-person events at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
