Research

Dr. Cosentino’s research over the past two decades has integrated methods from clinical neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience to study how cognition deteriorates in the course of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRD), with the goal of improving detection and diagnosis. Against this backdrop, she has developed a research program that investigates the subjective experience of cognitive difficulties, and most recently has been working to develop a brief memory screener to detect the earliest symptoms of ADRD in primary care settings, with particular focus on the Annual Well Woman Visit. As part of an ongoing NeuroGYN clinical research program, Dr. Cosentino is also applying novel digital testing to examine cognitive changes during the menopause transition to better understand both the acute cognitive symptoms of menopause as well as its long-term cognitive sequelae.
