Shannon M Higgins, NP
Overview
Shannon Higgins is an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Neurology Division of Neuro-Oncology at NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She received her BSN from University of Delaware and her MSN from Hunter College, and is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Shannon began her nursing career as an RN in the Neurocritical Care Unit at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. During this time, she closely monitored and managed a high case index of patients, including those suffering from traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, stroke, autoimmune diseases, seizures, and post-neurosurgical tumor resection. This highly specialized acute care experience provided her with a strong foundation to transition to her current role as Neuro-Oncology Nurse Practitioner. In close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of neuro-oncology providers, Shannon provides comprehensive care to brain and spinal tumor patients.
