Dr. Kelly Gwathmey

Kelly Gwathmey, MD, is an Associate Professor of Neurology in the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine and Director of Clinical Trials in the Eleanor and Lou Gehrig ALS Center. Dr. Gwathmey received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her Neurology residency and Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship at the University of Virginia, followed by a Neuromuscular Medicine fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Her clinical expertise includes ALS and other motor neuron disorders, myasthenia gravis, and inflammatory neuropathies. Dr. Gwathmey’s research focuses on quality-of-life measures in neuromuscular disease, diagnostic delays and disparities in ALS, and environmental risk factors. She is an active leader in national organizations, including the Network of Excellence for ALS (NEALS), where she serves on the Executive Committee and co-chairs multiple initiatives, as well as the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, where she serves on the Board of Directors. She is also Chair of the AANEM Podcast Editorial Committee and was recently recognized with the MGFA Partner of the Year Award.
