Columbia and Weill Cornell Medicine Researchers Awarded $17.25 Million to Study Profound Autism

Dr. Jennifer Bain, associate professor of neurology and pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is a co-investigator on the Columbia team that received a $17.25 million grant from the Aligning Research to Impact Autism (ARIA) initiative to study profound autism. The team will collaborate with researchers from the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Weill Cornell Medicine.

Dr. Bain is deeply committed to advancing both clinical care and research in neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder. She is a founder and co-chair of the NewYork-Presbyterian Autism Task Force, a multidisciplinary group of physicians and healthcare professionals dedicated to educating the community about autism. The ARIA grant will enable Dr. Bain and her co-investigators to better understand the development of profound autism. They will also join the ARIA IMPACT Network, a worldwide collaboration of research and clinical sites working to advance clinical trial preparedness and drive therapeutic development for autism. [Read more]
