Dr. Andrew B. Lassman

Andrew B. Lassman, MD, FAAN, FASCO has been appointed Vice Dean of Clinical Trials at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S), a newly established role focused on advancing and coordinating the school’s expanding clinical trials enterprise. In this position, Dr. Lassman will help strengthen institutional infrastructure, foster collaboration, and support the development of scientifically rigorous and clinically meaningful trials across disciplines.

Dr. Lassman is Professor of Neurology and serves as Chief of the Division of Neuro-Oncology and Vice Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Neurology at VP&S. He is also Associate Director for Clinical Trials at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. An internationally recognized clinician-scientist, Dr. Lassman’s research and clinical work focus on improving the understanding and treatment of brain tumors, with particular expertise in translational clinical trials and experimental therapeutics.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lassman has led single-institution and multicenter clinical trials, including national studies conducted through the National Cancer Institute’s clinical trials networks. In his new role as Vice Dean of Clinical Trials, he will build on this experience to further strengthen VP&S’s position as a global leader in clinical research and advance trials that translate discovery into patient care.
